Presentation of the Institution
The Roman Catholic Gymnasium of Miercurea Ciuc (once Şumuleu-Ciuc) bears, from May 25, 1990, the name of a former pupil, the Bishop Márton Áron. Currently, the Márton Áron secondary school of Miercurea Ciuc has 700 students organized into 24 classes and is still considered, on the basis of the results of the baccalaureate exams and the number of graduates admitted in the institutions of higher education, as an excellent secondary school, which provides quality education to its students. It is characterized by a balanced and inclusive educational program and enrolment policy. The school places great emphasis on talent management, operating for several years as an independent centre of talents, member of the network of talent centres, and in 2013 the county centre of excellence was established here.
Recently, the restoration works of the century-old building were carried out made possible by a project of the Mayor's office of Miercurea Ciuc in the frameworks of the Regional Operational Programme of the European Union. As a result of these large-scale renovation works, many believe that the institution has become the most beautiful and best equipped secondary school in Transylvania.
